Fossils on Prezi
I created this Prezi to help introduce the fossil unit to a 5th Grade class. It was so much fun to make and was easy too!
To make the presentation I collected a few photos from the internet and my personal collection. The Prezi website has tutorials that walk you through to make sure you make a great creation. It is also nice that there are preexisting templates to use or you can create your own. I created my own and it was very easy. It was also smart to write the script first and then look for the images. It made the process easy.
I would definitely use this program in the future. It would also be great for my students to use when making their own visual stories or "PowerPoints" It adds enough bells and whistles that kids like, but not enough to distract.

ReplyDeleteI am so glad you used Prezi. The images and the awesome video clip added to your story. I like how to created this to introduce activities for your class. The prezi gave the students the prior knowledge needed to learn more.

Gwyneth, this is great! I'm a little embarrassed to say, but I wasn't exactly sure how fossils were formed until now. I liked how you made it really simple so that any student would be able to understand the process of how fossils are formed. It was a good way to lead up to the Bill Nye video becasue even though I love Bill Nye, there is a lot of information thrown at you at a fast pace (I watched them all year with the 5th grade class I worked with). Great job!!

I liked the way you incorporated visuals, explanations, and video all together in a visually interesting Prezi format. With your example, I can see how these tools can meld into a very useful classroom tool. Well done!

ReplyDeleteI love your Prezi on fossils. I agree with Leigh actually. I had forgotten exactly how fossils were formed until now. I loved how you incorporated the visuals and video into your presentation. That is a great way to appeal to many different learning styles. You did a great job showing how technology tools can be a real asset in the classroom!
